hey everyone! no unfortunately james hasn’t descended from the heavens in our time of need as much as we all would like him to… it’s just dani. sorry to disappoint, and sorry in advance if anyone is made upset by my posting on his blog.
it’s very hard to miss what’s been going on in the world at the moment, and as a black american you can easily imagine that if james were here today he’d be very vocal about his support of black lives matter; ahmaud arbery, breonna taylor, and george floyd’s murders (among many others); and the brutality inflicted upon protestors that are fighting on behalf of those no longer with us or that cannot fight with just their strength alone. though i imagine a lot of james’ followers probably aren’t as active on tumblr as they were 3 years ago he still has many and even if this message is only received by 10 people, it’s my duty to use james’ platform and reach to reach those 10 people any way possible. i know this is what he would have wanted.
here is a link to a carrd that has a ton of information for those looking to support the movement whether it be in the streets or at home if you are unable to attend protests. it has links to petitions to sign, gofundmes for the families of victims that need support and foundations and charities that are assisting black/marginalized communities and supporting people who have been wrongfully arrested or convicted, tips on how to protest safely and more. there are even ways you can give financial support if you are unable to spare any money yourself (for once, youtube is useful!)
i really implore everyone to take a look at that site and help in whatever way you can. police brutality and racism as a whole are issues that have plagued not just america but the human race for a very long time, and unless we ALL stop kicking our feet and start demanding action from our political leaders and governements it will continue to stay around for a very long time. please, get out and protest and demand our voices be heard. if you cannot protest, please donate. if you cannot donate, sign petitions. and when you are done that, continue to spread awareness within your inner circles and communities until lasting changes are made.
thank you so much for your time, and thank you for your strength. in just the past week so much has gotten done, but we need all hands on deck if we’re going to keep this going. i believe in all of us!! we can make a difference!
